Mission Statement
The Bard Palestinian Youth Initiative (BPYI) believes that constructive civil engagement, cultural exchange, and education are the fundamental means to building a viable and sustainable Palestinian state. Every year, twenty Bard College students travel to Mas’ha, a small village in the West Bank, where we partner with the local community to run children’s summer camps and community service projects, teach English classes and engage in cultural discourse.
Trustee Leader Scholar Program
The BPYI is a project in the Bard College Trustee Leader Scholar program. TLS encourages and supports students to do challenging, even brazen acts of world change. The college recognizes that it takes courage to confront power structures and bureaucratic obstacles. TLS supports students— administratively, intellectually and emotionally—so that we can find ways into and through resistance.
