The Palestinians I’ve met while living in the West Bank really want us to know and love the Palestinian culture as it is actually lived. 10 year-olds in the kids camp and adults alike express their desire to live peacefully with the Israelis–many fear that the only existing perception of the people is based on the mainstream media’s performance in front of the world. I think we are engaging people well simply by participating in their lives by dancing at weddings or doing L+T sessions or going to the mosque or even saying a few words at the grocery store. I think this impact is louder than bombs.
